Ever wondered what age you appear to be? AgeWatch is a simple and entertaining way to explore facial age estimation with the camera you already carry. Point it at a face, capture, and an estimated age appears on screen.
What AgeWatch Does
Four things, and nothing you have to configure.
Live camera estimation
Open the camera, frame a face, capture. Front and back cameras are both supported.
Fast results
The app analyses visible facial features and shows an estimated age, a likely range, and how long it took.
Private by design
On supported devices everything is processed locally: nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared.
Worth experimenting with
Expression, lighting, angle, and image quality all change the outcome. Compare and see.
How It Works
Four steps, a few seconds, no setup.
- Start the AppOpen AgeWatch and tap Start, granting camera access once.
- Frame a facePlace a single face in view; on-screen guidance tells you when the camera is ready.
- Capture and analyseAgeWatch detects the face and analyses it with the model included in the app.
- Read the estimateThe estimated age appears with an age range and confidence where available.
If no face can be found, the app says so clearly instead of inventing a number.
Your Photos Stay With You
Privacy is not a setting you have to find — it is how the app is built.
- The age model ships inside the app and runs directly on the device.
- No account, no sign-up, no prediction history, no database.
- No analytics or tracking of your results.
- Where on-device analysis is not available, the app can optionally send the captured image to an inference service to produce the estimate; the image is processed to return the result and is not intentionally kept.
- Captured photos are written temporarily by the camera so that they can be analysed.
Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
The Estimate Comes From Research
AgeWatch is not a guessing game dressed up as an app. It uses MobileAgeNet, a lightweight facial age estimation model designed specifically for mobile deployment and presented at the IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), one of the leading peer-reviewed venues in computer vision. Because the model is small and efficient enough to work without a server, your images can stay on your phone.

Good To Know
A few quick answers before you install.
How accurate is it?
It estimates apparent age, meaning how old a face looks, not your real age. Lighting, expression, camera angle, and image quality all shift the number. Treat it as a fun experiment rather than a measurement.
Do I need an internet connection?
On supported devices, no: the model is bundled with the app and runs offline on your phone.
How many faces at a time?
One face per shot works best. The app detects a face, crops it, and analyses that region.
Are my results saved anywhere?
No. There is no history, no account, and no database; the estimate disappears with the screen.
Just For Curiosity
Age is more than a number, and AgeWatch is not here to judge it. The result is an estimate of apparent age, not a measurement of your actual age.
- AgeWatch is intended for entertainment and informational purposes.
- Estimates are not guaranteed to be accurate and must not be used for medical, scientific, identity-verification, biometric, or other high-stakes purposes.
- Only use the camera on people who are happy to be photographed.
